With the release of Sherlock Holmes came the brand new trailer for the film Inception. This second trailer like its predecessor does not really spell out any contents or plot lines from the movie. While we the audience still do not understand the details, I think that will leave us all to an even more mind boggling experience once we get a chance to sit down and view the entire picture.
Even the cast members are not completely sure what this whole film is about. Many supporting cast members like Michael Caine were only given the portions of the script involving their characters. Think about that, people involved in the project are being kept in the dark and not even receiving the full script. Writer/Director Christopher Nolan wants to keep the lid tight on who knows what about Inception. It helps add to the mystery surrounding these puzzling trailers.
Nolan, the man who brought us Memento, The Prestige, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight (all of those movies are AMAZING) is also at the helm of this mammoth project. After The Dark Knight's unreal success Nolan got a lot longer leash from the executives at Warner Brothers Pictures. The studio granted Nolan a ridiculous budget of $200 million dollars to create Inception, one of the largest budgets ever for a feature film. With the studio putting that much faith in Nolan and this project, should we doubt him?
Nolan has not created a film that has failed yet and Inception does not look like the project to break that trend. After Inception is completed the murmurs around Hollywood are that Nolan will move on to his highly anticipated third installment in the Batman franchise. No official Batman 3 announcements have been made by Nolan himself or Warner Brothers, though it has been rumored the announcement will be coming soon.
Enjoy this breathtaking second Inception trailer.
The official synopsis of this film: A contemporary science fiction action thriller set within the architecture of the mind. The film's tag line is: "Your Mind is the Scene of the Crime."
Leo's opening narration states:
What's the most resilient parasite? An idea. A single idea from the human mind can build cities. An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules, which is why...I have to steal it.
That either means a way has been discovered to enter or steal thoughts of others. Maybe by entering people's minds through dreams or just reading them. In the trailer Leo can be heard discussing stealing an idea and instructing Ellen Page to never recreate from her memory and to always imagine new places. You can also hear a woman (probably Ellen Page) screaming, "Wake me up!"
The cast is something to be marveled. Leonardo DiCaprio is the film's main character. Anymore questions? The cast also boasts the skills of Ken Watanabe, the rising talent of Joesph Gordon-Levitt, the star of Juno Ellen Page, The Scarecrow in Nolan's Batman franchise Cillian Murphy, Academy Award Winner Marion Cotillard and two time Academy Award Winner Michael Caine. With a cast like that, they must have read something intriguing in Nolan's script.
Water is a constant throughout this trailer, is this significant? In this trailer you see Leo being dunked in water, plenty of rain, and the glass of water being highlighted. The official movie poster also has Leo standing in knee deep water.
How about that beautiful looking CGI in this trailer? Nolan doesn't usually love an overload of CGI but I can see him approving something that looks that real.
The music for the trailer fits the crazy quick pace visuals. The music for Inception is being composed by the uber famous Hans Zimmer who also collaborated with Nolan for The Dark Knight and Batman Begins.
This film has a plethora of different filming locations which should make it very interesting to see the many different settings in the film. Locations include: Tokyo, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Tangier, and Calgary.
Mark your calendars readers, this spectacle drops in IMAX and regular screens July 16th, 2010.
